Fugees and Harts endured 90 minutes of steady rain on Saturday 16 June, to come away with a hard earned point apiece after a 3-3 draw.
Fugees have become the form team as the season reaches the midway mark, and this game was highly anticipated by supporters and no doubt other teams in the race for the title. It didn’t disappoint. Apart from the miserable weather, the football on show was very entertaining.
Ricardo Herne opened the scoring after just 3 mins, rifling in from just inside the 18 yard line after Harts failed to clear a corner. Harts struggled to get a foothold; for the first 10 minutes Fugees were completely dominant.
Michael Williams equalised for Harts midway through the first half, showing great determination to keep going in the box and forcing the ball over the line.
Leading scorer in the league this season, Kevin Hudson then put Fugees 2-1 up, before Michael Williams equalised once again with another instinctive strikers finish.
In time added on at the end of the first half Hudson scored his second of the match after good work by Clayton Thomas (Bootsy), to go into half time with Fugees 3-2 up.
Harts came out for the second half a lot more coordinated, playing much better football and taking the game to Fugees for the first time. Oscar Thorpe headed the equaliser for Harts on 48 mins.
This was to be the end of the scoring but the match remained competitive and finely balanced right to the final whistle.
Fugees missed a great opportunity to take all 3 points when Gavin Ellick (Eddie Duff) saw his spot kick saved by Harts keeper, Damien O’Bey.
