Wirebirds recent form has been as dismal as the past weeks weather. Having conceded 15 goals in their the last 2 games, they were looking to fix their leaky defence and get back to winning ways.
On the other hand, despite drawing with the Scouts in their last fixture the Fugees have been in good form and playing an exciting brand of attacking football.
The majority of the game was being played in the Wirebirds half of the pitch and the odd venture by the Wirebirds into the Fugees half was easily dealt with by the Fugees defence.
Lex Yon of the Wirebirds ended a mazy run from Kevin Hudson with a late tackle and Fugees were duly awarded a penalty kick. Hudson stepped up and saw his spot kick saved for the second time in 2 weeks, however he was quickest to the rebound and as he drove the ball across the face of the goal Alistair Buckley saw his goal line clearance fly into his own net.
Goal 2 came on 41 minutes. Clayton "Bootsie" Thomas wriggled his way behind the birds defensive line and delivered and inch perfect cross, Hudson gave the cross the finish it deserved as he powered the ball home with his head from 6 yards.
Teams went off for the half time interval with the Fugees carrying a 2 goal lead. The Wirebirds poor form continued and the Fugees went on to score and total of nine goals. Man of the Match Ricardo Herne played a blinder. His combination of pace and skill was too much for the Wirebirds defence. Herne recorded 4 second half goals for his team.
Kevin Hudson put a gap between himself and Scott Crowie in the race for the golden boot as he registered a second half goal taking his season total to 8 goals. Greg Coleman finished off a brilliant solo run with a deft finish and "Bootsie" went from provider to scorer as he scored his team's 9th and final goal.
