Queen's Birthday Garden Party Plantation
Queens birthday garden party celebrations at Plantation, St Helena

Sinead Green, SHBC

On Saturday 2nd June, approx 400 invited guests gathered outside of Plantation House under a large marquee to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday.  Guests mingled and chatted as waiters made sure glasses were topped up and tasty finger foods served.

Governor Mark Capes welcomed everyone to the event with a speech.  A royal toast was made to Her Majesty the Queen followed by the national anthem played by the Get Together’s band. Jessica March was a special guest among the crowd as she also celebrated her 86th birthday.  Jessica is known for her skills in lace making.

Presentations of medals were made to fellow citizens to mark their loyal commitment and service to our community.

The Queen’s birthday garden party at Plantation is an annual event held every year on St Helena. It was also Governor Capes first time hosting the event.

The afternoon concluded around 4pm.  The day was an overall success and everyone enjoyed themselves.
