191 years ago on the 5th of May, also a Saturday as it happens, Napoleon Bonaparte died at Longwood House.

To commemorate his death the French Consul and St Helena Tourism held a "Moment de Memoire" ceremony at The Tomb on Saturday 5 May at 11am while a similar commemoration took place at Les Invalides in Paris, France where Napoleon's body now rests.

Prayers were said followed by the playing of the last post by a Scouts bugler. Three wreaths were then laid by island representatives.
