The 2012 football season kicked off on Francis Plain on Saturday 5 May, with two games.

At 3.30pm, in the second game of the day Rovers beat Fugees 2-0 to begin a successful defence of their league champions title. An own goal and a strike from Rico Benjamin secured the win for Rovers, playing in yellow and black kit. The game was keenly contested from the first whistle and at times passions boiled over a bit and referee Damien Stevens was needed to cool things down.
Rovers were particularly impressive in defence with Shane Clifford (man of the match), Brian Sim and Julian Henry putting in solid performances and Luke Johnson causing trouble for the Fugees with his long throw ins.
Denny Leo was the driving force in midfield for Fugees, urging his team on throughout the game. Also catching the eye for Fugees was Sanjay Clingham, Clayton Henry and Kyle Yon.
